Marrow Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 15, 2026

Marrow ("we," "our," or "the app") is a dog care journal built by Tritan, LLC. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

Marrow stores all of your dog's data locally on your device. There is no Marrow account, no login, and no Marrow server. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Information you enter into the app includes:

This data is stored using your device's secure local storage. Apart from the two narrow cases described in Sections 3 and 4, it never leaves your device.

2. Camera and Photo Library Access

Marrow requests access to your camera and photo library solely to let you add a portrait photo for your dog and to capture daily moments. Photos are saved as local file references on your device and are not transmitted to any server.

You can revoke camera and photo library permissions at any time in your iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security.

3. FDA Recall Data

To check whether your dog's food brand appears in active FDA recall notices, the app makes network requests to the openFDA public API (api.fda.gov). These requests contain no personal information — only a search query for the product category ("animal food"). Results are cached on your device to minimize network usage.

4. Subscription

Marrow is free for up to two dogs, and that includes the whole daily loop, reminders, the Trail photo journal, the guided body condition check, and the printable vet report. Marrow Pro is an optional subscription that adds what Marrow notices in your logs, vet visit prep, the monthly story, and every dog beyond your first two. Pro is $4.99/month with a 7-day free trial, and you can cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your subscription state; it does not receive your name, email address, or payment details. All billing and payment data is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment information.

5. Backup to Your Own iCloud (Optional)

Marrow works fully offline and uploads nothing unless you turn on backup. Backup is opt-in: you enable it yourself from Profile → Data.

When enabled, Marrow writes a copy of your dog data and photos into your own iCloud Drive, in a Marrow folder you can see and delete in the Files app. This is your Apple account and your storage. There is no Marrow account to create, no password, and no Marrow server involved — we never receive, hold, or have any way to read your backup. Your data is covered by Apple's privacy policy while it sits in iCloud.

You can turn backup off at any time from the same screen, and you can delete the backup yourself in Files → iCloud Drive → Marrow. Deleting the app does not delete your iCloud copy, which is the point: reinstall Marrow and your dogs are waiting.

6. What Marrow Notices

Marrow looks for patterns in what you have logged — the times of day things usually happen, which signals tend to move together, and slow changes in weight or activity over weeks. All of this is calculated on your device using fixed, deterministic rules. There is no artificial intelligence service, no cloud processing, and nothing about your dog is sent anywhere to produce it.

These are observations about your own logs, offered as general guidance and as things that may be worth mentioning to your vet. They are not veterinary advice and never a diagnosis.

7. Push Notifications

Marrow schedules on-device notifications for meal reminders, walk reminders, and health record due dates. These are processed entirely on your device using iOS's local notification system. No notification data is transmitted to external servers.

8. Analytics and Tracking

Marrow does not include any advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking, or third-party analytics. We do not build profiles on you, sell your data, or share your information with advertisers.

9. Children's Privacy

Marrow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

App data is stored locally on your device. To delete all local Marrow data, use Profile → Data → "Reset Local Data," or delete the app from your iPhone.

If you turned on iCloud backup, deleting the app does not remove the iCloud copy. You can delete it yourself at any time in Files → iCloud Drive → Marrow. Because the backup lives in your own iCloud account, we have no access to it and cannot delete it for you.

Subscription status is managed by Apple and RevenueCat. To cancel, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
